12 Goals for 2014

Starting today I will set 12 goals. Each goal will occupy the span of one month and must be fulfilled everyday. My objective is to spend more time improving and diversifying myself. I feel that as I get older I spend less time engaging in new activities and becoming more specialized. I want this year to be about self-improvement.

  1. January: No Drinking
  2. February: Perform some physical activity / martial arts, Jujutsu, boxing, jogging, hiking, biking, sports, etc
  3. March: Continuing February goal until I reach 185lb)
  4. April: Continuing February goal until I reach 185lb)
  5. May: Continuing February goal until I reach 185lb)
  6. June: Study AI/Math (min 1 hour/day)
  7. July: Learn an instrument (min 1 hour/day), must only choose one instrument
  8. August: Arts/Crafts - work on small item everyday, or a larger item of the span of a few days. Carving, pottery, carpentry, Lego creation, Model
  9. September:Draw/Paint (min 1 hour/day)
  10. October: Study Spanish (min 1 hour/day)
  11. November: Build a new web service/website of some form
  12. December: Excercise mind by solving new problems everday. Rubik's like puzzles, Project Euler, Brain teasers

Conclusion I hit 185 pounds and achieved a level of fitness I hadn't experienced in a long time. Even won two silver medals in a JiuJitsu tournament on my birthday! I am now off soda and have cut my sugar intake down considerably. I have maintained constant studying. Unfortunately, other than fitness and misc studying, I did not continue all 12 goals after July, but still had an awesome year! :)

Update (3/31) At least for the early months I have decided to remain dedicated to physical improvement, something much neglected in my recent years. I have maintained almost daily workout regiments for 3 months and have lost 27lbs! I have recently started boxing/jujutsu training so will keep pursuing more physical goals until I feel content and wish to work on something else.
